The La liga side have released their squad numbers for next season, announcing Keylor Navas will wear the No1 jersey.
The Costa Rica international has been bumped up to first-choice goalkeeper after Iker Casillas' shock departure to Porto.
And it seems likely that Real will make do with Navas for one season before potentially signing De Gea next summer on a free transfer.
New signing Kiko Casilla, who arrived from Espanyol this week has opted to wear the number 13 shirt and will be Navas' understudy.
