Fulop had a tumor removed from his arm in February 2013, but vowed to return to football within months.

"I am sure that after a few months I will be ready both physically and mentally to continue playing football," he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.
However, the 6ft 6 shot-stopper left Greek side Asteras Triplois later that year at the end of his contract, and didn't play competitively again before his tragic death on Thursday.

Fulop arrived in England with Spurs in 2004 and went on to play for Chesterfield, Coventry City and Sunderland on loan before joining the Black Cats on a permanent basis in 2007.

He was also loaned to Leicester, Stoke and Manchester City throughout the next three seasons before moving to Ipswich Town and then West Bromwich Albion on full-time deals, at the start of the decade.
