The UEFA Champions League semifinal draw is made on Friday, and it features some minor surprises.
If you're just tuning in and you expected to see Barcelona here, we've got some bad news. They were knocked out by Atlético Madrid, who turned in an excellent performance over two legs to defeat the defending champions. You're also out of luck if you hoped PSG would break through -- they got beat by Manchester City in a minor upset. The Citizens are semifinalists for the first time.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the other two semifinalists, and they're fixtures of this portion of the competition. This is the fifth year in a row that the Bavarians have made the semifinal, and the sixth in a row for Los Merengues.
At this stage of the Champions League, there are no draw restrictions. The draw gets underway just after 5:30 a.m. ET, 12:30 p.m. local time in Switzerland. You can watch it on UEFA.com, or on TV on Fox Sports 1 in the United States.
