Bastian Schweinsteiger is honoured to become the first German to play for Manchester United and believes the team can do a 'great job' this season.
The World Cup winner joined the Red Devils in a £15million deal from Bayern Munich on Saturday and is seen as the man to bring some authority to United’s midfield.
Schweinsteiger is pleased to be the first of his countrymen to play for Manchester United and told MUTV: 'It’s a big honour. I had a joke with Wayne [Rooney] about it before, but it’s a big honour to be the first German player here for the first team. It’s a great feeling.'

Having spent the last 17 years with German giants Bayern in the Bundesliga, Schweinsteiger is excited by his move to the Premier League and is a regular watcher of the English top flight.
'I’ve watched a lot of Premier League games; there are some German players playing for Arsenal – Lukas Podolski is a friend of mine, so we talk about the league,' he said.
'Every game is interesting and tough, so I’m looking forward to playing in those games at a high level. I think we have a great team that can do a great job.'
